Medallion Pools - Family Owned and Operated Since 1960
First May 09 Issue
April 28th was the one year anniversary of the tornado that destroyed a large portion of our building. That was a devastating day for our employees and for the customers that were in the store. That is now behind us. Our building is 99% complete and what a store we have now. We have some decorating to do in our above ground show room but other than that we are finished. During our open house is was amazing how many people came up to me to tell me how much they love the new look and increased size of our store. The those who have not been in, I think when you come in you will be amazed.
HOT - HOT - HOT
Not only is it a song but its what's been happening with our weather. In the past week we have been breaking high temperatures around central Virginia like never before. This past weekend we saw a record surge in pool openings. For pool owners without heaters this will give you almost a month extra swimming. For the owners with heaters your pool has probably already been open and already warmed up. While many people dislike hot weather, pool owners cherish hot weather. What better way to spend the evening after a hard day at work or Saturday and Sunday relaxing in the cool water of your very own pool.
Sincerely

Questions From The Store and Tips From The Experts
Whenever I vacuum about an hour later the pool has dirt back on the floor - what am I doing wrong?
What is happening is the dirt/chemical residue that you are vacuuming up is too small for the filter to trap and is passing through the sand back into the pool.
There are several ways to correct this.
1 - Use a water clarifier that will cause the particles to join together so they can be trapped by the filter. This is usually the best and least expensive method
2 - Vacuum to waste (NOT BACKWASH). By vacuuming to waste you will send the particles out of the backwash hose and out of the pool. Keep an eye on your water level since you will be pumping your water level down and you could lose six inches of water or more. Do not allow the water to get low in the skimmer because you can lose the prime on the pump as well as float the liner in your pool or float the pool out of the ground if it is a fiberglass pool. If you are in a high water table area this method is not recommended.
