How Do I Pay for My Inground Swimming Pool?

clock March 22, 2018 10:47 by author medallionpools |

Owning a swimming pool doesn’t have to set you back financially or break the bank. With so many options available, you can find exactly what you want, in your price range.

When it comes time to pay for this investment, you have several choices for financing a swimming pool.

Charging a Swimming Pool
Credit cards are a great choice especially if you use cards with low interest and/or obtain rewards for using it. If you go this route, but haven’t used the card in quite some time, call the credit card company. Let them know about the purchase and how much you plan to charge. You never know, you may be eligible for a new, lower interest rate, too.

For your protection, most credit card companies will not let you make a major purchase without authorizing it first. If you don’t contact the credit card company and go ahead with the purchase, they may think it’s a fraudulent charge. The transaction may also put you over a daily charge limit. It’s always best to check in with your credit card company.

HELOC to Buy a Swimming Pool
Home equity lines of credit are another way to finance a swimming pool. Currently, rates are very low and competitive making it an excellent time to apply for a HELOC. The interest may also be tax deductible since it is considered mortgage interest. You can get more information from your tax preparer.

Consolidation Loan to Pay for Swimming Pool
If you have a lot of monthly payments on various accounts, a consolidation loan may be something worth checking out. Combine everything into one payment, and lower your monthly payment. Depending on the current interest rate you on your home loan, you may be able to refinance at a lower rate, add a swimming pool payment, and still have a lower payment than before.

Other Swimming Pool Financing Options
There are also several online companies that will finance swimming pool purchases without collateral. The interest rates will vary depending on your credit rating.

Why Buy a Swim Spa

clock February 19, 2018 11:50 by author medallionpools |

Within the past years, the spa and pool family has had a new addition in the form of a swim spa.

Swim spas are miniature pools that allow you to swim in place either against a swim current or tether. These creative devices have become highly popular due to their size, versatility and health benefits.

Investing in a Swim Spa

Buying a swim spa is investing in yourself, your family, and your backyard. A swim spa offers a combination of entertainment, relaxation and exercise. Swim spas are the best of both worlds, giving you the comfort of a hot tub with the mobility and convenience you find in a swimming pool.

4 Reasons to Buy a Swim Spa

1. Healthy Living

Working out in a swim spa means getting all the benefits of health fitness in the convenience of your backyard. Swimming, or aquatic exercising, is a great cardio workout allowing every muscle to work in unison with less impact on joints. Swim spas help you maintain a productive and healthy training regimen at your own pace and convenience.

The benefits of exercising in a swim spa include:

- Increased mobility
-Reduced stiffness
- Eases muscle pain
- Prevents joint soreness
- Low impact form of exercise

2. Size

Although the idea of having a swimming pool in your backyard might be exciting, it will take up a great deal of space. Swim spas are significantly smaller and lighter than a cement pool.

Install it above ground or in-ground. Tuck it in the corner of a room, build into your deck, or create a sunroom oasis. Installation is extremely easy, and the location possibilities are endless. Buying a swim spa can save a big percentage of the costs of constructing and operating a pool.

3. Unlimited Function and Family Fun

With a swim spa, the integrated water current allows you to effectively swim, relax, rehab, and exercise as you would in a large pool. Regardless of where you live, you can use your miniature pool all year long, or just extend your swimming season into the spring and fall.

If you have children, you should consider buying a swim spa. Enjoy memorable bonding and fun times with your family, and know they are safe. While managing a larger pool might be time-consuming, a swim spa offers more flexibility because it requires less maintenance.

4. Portability

Above-ground swim spas are mobile and portable, which gives you the convenience of taking them with you when you move. Simply disassemble a few pieces and pack it away. This mobility also enables you to take it with you to a different area of your home where you like to spend most of your time.

Convenience & Versatility of Swim Spas

These four reasons only begin to scratch the surface of why buying a swim spa may be a great decision for your family. Start planning how you can purchase one with less hassle and less cost with Medallion Pools.

How to Buy a Portable Spa

Portable spas are versatile and affordable. If you’ve been thinking over the decision to purchase a portable spa, you won’t be disappointed! However, you should take care in choosing the best spa for your home and your needs.

Factors in Choosing a Portable Spa

With so many portable spas on the market, it can be overwhelming to decide on the right one. When shopping for a portable spa, consider the following factors.

1. How many people will use the spa at one time?

Generally, for a family of four an 8’ portable spa is plenty of room. However, if you plan to invite friends and neighbors over you’ll want to go with a larger spa. Also think about the power source you have running to your portable spa, as this may change the sizes to consider.

2. Do you want a spa with just seats, or loungers?

This is really based on how you want to use your spa. Loungers provide a great place to stretch out, relax, and enjoy full body therapy without moving from seat to seat. Seats are better suited for packing more people in to chat and socialize. It also allows you to move around the portable spa with greater ease and comfort.

3. Would you like one spa lounger or two?

Portable spa lounge seats naturally take up more room than a standard seat. You can assume that with each lounger you have you’ll have at least one less seat. Two lounger portable spas typically don’t have many, if any, regular seats.

4. Where do you plan to place your spa?

Portable spas can be used indoors or outdoors. In either location the surface must be solid, level and sturdy. For indoor use, it’s important to ensure the portable spa can fit through doorways and stairwells. For outdoor use, concrete patios and solid decks are best.

5. How many jets do you want, and do you prefer them on your neck, back and legs?

This all depends on how you intend to use your portable spa. More jets don’t necessarily mean a better spa experience. Too many jets can push you around the spa, while not enough will leave you wishing for more powerful hydrotherapy. Consider where you want the most jet focus and go from there when looking at your options.

Why Add a Gas Heater to my Swimming Pool?

clock February 9, 2018 10:55 by author medallionpools |

Pool heaters on the market today are fast, efficient, compact, quiet, safe and eco-friendly. Gone are the days where you have to wait until temperatures are in the 80’s to enjoy your swimming pool. Most of the new gas heaters have no pilot light, simply push button digital controls with a user-friendly indicator light. This makes operation and monitoring so simple.

Gas heaters are available for propane or natural gas. If you live in an area with natural gas, you may have a gas meter already attached to the house. You should get a licensed plumber to check this meter to make sure it can handle the additional BTU’s of the gas heater. BTU options vary from 200,000 up to 400,000.

Gas heater size

The size BTU heater you will need can be determined by a local pool company, but it will depend on how many gallons of water you have in the pool and if you are looking to keep the pool heated all the time, or only on demand. If you are going to install a propane heater, your pool dealer can install the heater, but you will need a propane company to make the connection from the tank to the heater. If you do not have a propane tank, the gas company can have one installed.

Gas heater installation

Placement of your new heater is very important. Refer to the manufacturer’s manual for proper placement. If the heater is going under a deck, you must have proper clearance from heater to deck. If the heater will be installed indoors, the gas fumes must be vented outside. The heater can’t be installed next to your heat pump. The proper placement information will be found in the heater manual.

Installing a gas heater on your swimming pool

A gas heater is a great way to extend your swimming season. Depending on where you live, the proper size heater can give you 60 more days plus of swimming time. Now is a good time to contact Medallion, or visit your local pool dealer to learn more about the different heater options. While you are there, be sure to ask about a solar cover to help your heater be more efficient.

Swimming pool size and shape is only limited by that of your lot. If space is restrictive, you may find sticking with a standard shape is best. Homeowners with endless room for shapes and designs can get unconventional should they choose. We’ll achieve your preferred swimming pool shape and size.

To maximize on the square footage of their swimming pool, this homeowner chose a traditional rectangular shape pool with 6” radius corners. Even though installation was difficult due to the tight space between the pool and garage, the size and shape of this pool is meant to be!

Shimmering Jewels—Selecting a Swimming Pool Liner
There’s no doubt that your swimming pool is the centerpiece of your outdoor living space. The swimming pool liner you select is a major design decision that adds to the visual appeal of your pool.  Choosing a liner is a balance between picking a beautiful accent for your pool and tastefully harmonizing the home’s exterior.

This homeowner went with a tile patterned pool liner in various hues of vibrant blue. The full print liner without border really enhances the crispness and clarity of the glistening water, not to mention flatters the complexion of the entire outdoor living space.

In this pool there is a 3-foot bench that spans the shallow end. Not only does this feature take place of a traditional pool ladder, it provides the perfect spot for lounging or sunbathing. Multifunctional, tasteful and completely custom!
