Water Returns Slowly To My Pool

A swimming pool has a skimmer where the pool water goes into and from there into the filter and then back to the pool thru the return wall fitting. Have you noticed your return water flow is not as strong as it used to be? What could be causing this?

If you have a Cartridge Filter, when was the last time you changed or cleaned your filter? If you have a DE Filter, have you checked the grids inside lately? If you have a Sand Filter, when was the last time you changed or cleaned your sand? If you have maintained your filter properly, then this might not be your problem.

When you vacuum your pool, do you use a Skimvac that fits over top of your skimmer basket? By using this Skimvac, the basket can stay in place and trap any leaves or debris. If you do not use the Skimvac, you may have some debris trapped in the impeller of the motor in your swimming pool pump. This impeller has to rotate so many revolutions per minute. Leaves and debris will slow this movement.

Slow water flow does not mean your swimming pool pump is going bad. You need to check the impeller, the skimmer and strainer baskets and even your plumbing lines. When the water flow slows down, the filter and these other items need to be checked. Something is restricting the flow of water back to the pool. In most cases, this is simply an issue with a dirty filter or baskets, so check those first. My Swimming Pool Is My Backyard Escape

Wake up early, make breakfast, fix lunch for your kids, either take them to school or get them on the school bus. Go home and get dressed and go to work. Work 8-10 hours. Come home, cook supper, help with homework, put kids to bed, fall out in your own bed. How many live this life style?

This pattern goes on every morning. Our lives are too short. We need some form of recreation and family togetherness. Loading up the car and going to the beach or local community swimming pool is starting to cost more and more money. Then you have to fight the crowds and the traffic driving home.

Think how great it would be to take that recreation time in your own backyard. No driving. No traffic. No having to stop to feed the kids or take them to the bathroom. Your own swimming pool is a means of a better lifestyle and well being for you and your family.

Swimming is great for your health and gets your kids out of the house for more exercise. With all the technology available today, kids have forgotten how to have fun without a computer. Do not look at a pool as a waste of money but as a means to improve your health and your family lifestyle. Cook your dinner outside by your pool. Eat by your pool. Enjoy your pool. No better time than now to take a visit to your local pool dealer.

My Husband Does Not Want A Pool

If this is the way your husband thinks, he is perfectly normal. Very few husbands initially want to even look into the possibility of installing an inground pool. This is a misconception that many husbands have of thinking a pool is a lot of work and they do not have time to do the required maintenance.

Pools are not like they use to be ten years ago. The inground pool is very easy to maintain and requires very little time each week to keep clean. Your pool will require chemicals and which chemicals you use will determine your weekly cleaning time. Look into installing a Chlorine Generator (salt system).

With a salt system, the pump will not have to run 24 hrs. a day seven days a week. Your pool water will be a lot cleaner requiring a lot less of your time having to vacuum. Your chemical cost will be a lot less. You will have more time to enjoy the pool and not worry about cleaning. If you did not want to manually vacuum the pool, look into the many options for automatic pool cleaners. The pool now can become the focal point of a family vacation in your backyard everyday. There is nothing like coming home from a hard day at the office and unwinding in your pool. Your husband will love this after he tries it one time. Listen to the water, maybe turning on some music, cooking on the grill, no traffic. Just ask your husband to visit your local pool dealer to look into the many options available today.

Please note: results of various water treatment systems and filter times will vary. Consult your local pool professional for complete details.

Vinyl Liner Pools Have Grown Up

Toss out any image you may have perceived about the looks of a Vinyl Liner Pool. Technology has enabled this type of pool to look like a concrete pool but at a very affordable price. Virtually any shape or size can now be manufactured and built.

The white walk in step that some people just do not like, can be replaced with a liner steps. These steps can extend across the width of the pool and you can even add a sun lounger area. If the sun lounger with liner steps is not to your liking, the walk in step now comes in blue or grey. This type of walk in step is also available with twin seats. This gives you room for people to sit and others to enter and exit your pool.

The standard white coping know as Receptor Coping, can be replaced with side mount if you want to use bullnose bricks around the edge of your pool or top mount if you want to pour a cantilever deck around your pool. This white coping would not be visible with side mount or cantilever.

Forget using a ladder to exit the deep end of your pool. Add an 8’ swim-out with room for two people to sit or lean back in with steps to exit the pool. Consider as an option using a 6’ In Wall Seat. This takes the place of a pool panel and ideal for two people to sit in with the option of adding jets to massage your lower back.

What Size Or Shape Pool Should We Install?

clock April 25, 2017 10:00 by author medallionpools |

With the technology available today, just about any size or shape is possible with a vinyl liner pool. Just sketch out your thoughts and meet with a Medallion swimming pool dealer. A lot also will depend on the size of the area you want to install a pool. Is the area flat or on a slope? Can you get to the area and have room for a machine to do the excavation and backfill? Some examples of pool shapes are Rectangles, Lazy L’s, or True L’s (with Grecian, 2’or 4’ Radius or Reverse Radius Corners), Kidneys, and Freeforms. The shape of your pool will depend on your individual taste. Shape will affect the price of the pool so keep that in mind. Your local Medallion pool dealer will be able to help you with this decision.

Do you like to swim laps? If so, maybe a lap pool might be a consideration. They can be any size or width. Some possible sizes might be; 10’ x 50’ or 10’ x 60’. The depth can be one level (either 3-1/2’ or 4’). The lap pool can be designed to meet your needs.

These pools can be designed to have one constant depth (of either 3-1/2’ or 4’) or a shallow end and a deep end. Depending on the size of the pool, the deep end can be 5’, 6’ or 8’ deep or deeper with larger sizes. If you install a deep end more than 6’, the majority of the pool will be over your head. Make sure you love deep water and diving.

If you are more interested in playing games in the pool like Volleyball, Basketball, or Football you should not install a deep end pool. The maximum depth of the deep end should be about 5’ to enjoy these games for everyone. If you do install a deep end pool for your children, when they are no longer living with you, you can install a new liner and fill in the deep end to a shallower depth.

See your local Medallion swimming pool dealer to help you make the best selections for you and your family.
