So just what is a fiberglass swimming pool?

This pool is manufactured from a fiberglass-reinforced material that has been formed into a certain shape and size on a preformed mold at the factory. The surface material is placed over the mold and formed into shape. It is then coated with fiberglass. This pool does not use external braces, but it must be installed in a specifically dug hole and must be supported with the proper back fill according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
The pool leaves the factory on a flatbed truck and at the job site a crane is used to remove the pool for placement in the excavated hole. Since most manufacturers offer certain size and shape molds, unlimited sizes and shapes are not available. You must choose one of the shapes and sizes the manufacturer has the mold for. These molds are very expensive and they are not something the pool manufacturer can quickly and easily produce to make a custom shape or size for their customer. Customization of stairs, benches, slopes, etc is also not possible.
Installation of this pool is fairly quick, usually only taking (on average) about three days depending on the conditions at the site. As far a pricing, fiberglass swimming pools are usually much more expensive than vinyl liner pools, but less than concrete swimming pools.
The homeowner needs to be very satisfied with their pool selection before the signing of the contract. This pool is not manufactured on site and has to be manufactured in a special mold, and then delivered to you. There is no changing your mind once the job has started. Do your homework first and choose the shape and size that will fit your family’s needs.
If you are looking for something that you can customize to fit you and your family’s specific needs then you will want to consider vinyl liner pools and concrete swimming pools. These can be easily customized.
