What Pool Shape and Size Should We Install

With the technology available today, just about any pool shape and size is possible with a vinyl liner pool.

Just sketch out your thoughts and meet with a Medallion swimming pool dealer. A lot also will depend on the size of the area you want to install a pool. Is the area flat or on a slope? Can you get to the area and have room for a machine to do the excavation and backfill? Some examples of pool shapes are Rectangles, Lazy L’s, or True L’s (with Grecian, 2’or 4’ Radius or Reverse Radius Corners), Kidneys, and Freeforms. The shape of your pool will depend on your individual taste. Shape will affect the price of the pool so keep that in mind. Your local Medallion pool dealer will be able to help you with this decision.

Do you like to swim laps? If so, maybe a lap pool might be a consideration. They can be any size or width. Some possible sizes might be; 10’ x 50’ or 10’ x 60’. The depth can be one level (either 3-1/2’ or 4’). The lap pool can be designed to meet your needs.

These pools can be designed to have one constant depth (of either 3-1/2’ or 4’) or a shallow end and a deep end. Depending on the size of the pool, the deep end can be 5’, 6’ or 8’ deep or deeper with larger sizes. If you install a deep end more than 6’, the majority of the pool will be over your head. Make sure you love deep water and diving.

If you are more interested in playing games in the pool like Volleyball, Basketball, or Football you should not install a deep end pool. The maximum depth of the deep end should be about 5’ to enjoy these games for everyone. If you do install a deep end pool for your children, when they are no longer living with you, you can install a new liner and fill in the deep end to a shallower depth.
