What does the term portable spa mean?

The Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP) defines a portable (self contained) spa as “A factory-built spa in which all control, water heating and water circulation equipment is an integral part of the product” (from ANSI/APSP/ICC-6 2013 1.2.1).
Ease of use, portability and hassle free installation are some of the reasons a portable spa is very popular. Various types of portable spas can be picked up by the customer, taken home and plugged into a regular wall outlet. Fill with water, turn heater on and in some cases it can be ready for use that same day.
As with any other type of spa, the portable spa needs to be properly installed and maintained to provide continued problem free usage and meet your expectations. Various types of sanitizers are available to you. We would suggest taking a sample of water to your spa dealer to have them check it to determine which chemicals you need. It is also advisable to keep an extra filter cartridge on hand. While you are cleaning one, the other can be in the spa ready for use.
